All yours?

What is? I guess that is probably the question on your mind or maybe you were thinking something else?

Well, I saw a movie yesterday that got me thinking.

Now in my book Pride, I said pride is when we trust in ourselves and not in God. And why would trusting ourselves be easy? Because we think we know ourselves and would rather trust in our abilities and strength, not God whom we know nothing about, not to mention that as the Bible puts it, His ways are higher than ours. Most people who would want to trust Him to be there for them find it very frustrating and difficult because of this and therefore cut Him off altogether.

In the movie I mentioned earlier, the protagonist was in this place of frustration and refusal to surrender to God because he felt he couldn’t trust Him. He was frustrated that he couldn’t control certain things in his life yet very angry at the One he knew was in control – Pride. Funny how this often never reveals itself until a painful situation or circumstance we don’t understand befalls us. He had just lost his mum to cancer and was on the verge of losing his soon-to-be bride to a ghastly motor accident when he began to lash out. Blamed God for allowing such terrible things to happen when they say He is so loving and kind. By this admitting that God actually was in control of everything. Well, he later decided to surrender and ask God for His help and God did help him out.

Now I do not plan to answer why bad things happen or even take lightly the many painful circumstances that we all go through day in day out. The loss of a loved one, loss of a job, natural disasters and even a bad day. I simply advise that we trust Him, have a mustard-seed kind of faith in Him that He knows what He is doing and that there is no wickedness in Him. Is it easy? Nope, but it is well worth the peace of mind that He is watching over us and all our affairs. This is the path I took and advise others to take.

I give this advice also because the scriptures rightly say that the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof and again, for the world is mine and the fullness thereof. He made all things for His pleasure, they are all His. Your wife, brother, sister, mother, father, friends and all your loved ones including you are first His. He is the one that wakes them up for another new day, not you. He is the one that secures their life, not you. Your intelligence or maybe genes, gifts, talents, abilities, opportunities and anything else you can think of first belonged to Him and He gave it all to you because He loves you and wants you to have them in your life here on earth. Your loved ones, friends, businesses, influence even opportunities have been given to you as a gift from Him. If you think you own it all and got it all by your strength then you can never find it in your heart to be grateful to Him.

As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:17, “what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” Your family is a gift from God, your job is a gift. Be a good steward of them not forgetting to show gratitude because every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

If you have not yet surrendered to His leadership in your life even through His precious Son Jesus, please reconsider. Are you still frustrated with Him? Please reconsider. One person has got to surrender to the other and it ought to be the Creation to the Creator, not the other way round.

Thank Him for every good and perfect gift, every blessing in your life and do have yourself a fruitful week. Remember the more you appreciate Him, the more gifts He sends your way.

Enjoy the new days He has given for this new week and remain blessed!
