The Assignment

assignment

Ever wondered what you were doing here on earth?

Good news! You are not alone. You see, according to the scriptures in John 18:37, Jesus clearly answered this very question. He said;

To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.

Some call it purpose others assignment but I prefer to call it assignment because it feels like a school assignment. Something assigned to you that you must do. Something that God has choosen for you to do while on earth before you were given life. Ephesians 2:10 says that “we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them“.

Next question on your mind should be “how do I find out what mine is?” I will go with Pastor Rick Warren, Best Selling Author of The Purpose Driven Life – What On Earth Am I Here for? He says to discover your purpose, you should be in a relationship/fellowship with God, the giver of purpose to lives. That’s true for me because if you don’t attend classes you don’t know your teacher, what was taught and what the assignment was.

Why should I care what He wants from me? What is in it for me? Are those the questions on your mind?

Well, I won’t try to sweet talk you into any advantages as many as they may be. All I will say is that you will never know if you never try.

Am writing this today because just when I thought I had it all figured out, I discovered there was more to my assignment than meets the eyes. Am looking up to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith, the Alpha and Omega of my life, the Beginning and the Ending of all that is mine and of all that concerns me. I hope that at my end I will say as Paul said, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.  And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return”.

It hasn’t been easy but it has been well worth it. Have a great week while you discover His assignment for you by spending more time with Him.

Be Blessed!
