Why you aren’t leaping for joy is simply because your focus is wrong. You are concentrating majorly on the wrong things and you have allowed them to consume your thoughts and to control you. This is why you are currently depressed or often times depressed. I say this with all amount of responsibility because I know what being depressed feels like and not just once but in previous times I had allowed myself drown in it but that was until I found the cure. Hi there! Hope you are doing well.
So, how to wait patiently without losing faith in God? I will begin with the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth. Continue reading “How To Be Patient”
What does pride have to do with unbelief? That’s the purpose of this post.
That statement is basically the summary of the book “Pride”. The book is in two (2) parts – Diagnosis and Recovery. The first part gives the diagnosis of the true nature of pride which is one being established in unbelief as against the symptoms (arrogance or showing of self-importance, wickedness, lack of respect for people generally etc.) which we encounter in proud people. Diagnosis covers chapters 1 to 11 – A general overview of pride, Why pride is a sin, Why God resists the proud, Pride and unbelief, The works of pride or you may say the possible behaviours in a proud person, the issue of Self, Who has it worse with pride and then introduces the basic requirements for recovery like Understanding God, Trusting God, Tells my own story with pride and it then ends with The man after God’s heart – David.
Recovery is basically building back faith and maintaining faith in the long run. It takes from chapters 12 to 18 – Faith, Accepting the love of God, Truth, God is Merciful, Fear of the Lord, Praise the Lord and finally Be a praying Christian.
What has pride got to do with unbelief – lack of faith?
That’s what am about to answer in very few lines and with a story of something that happened recently that reminded me of why the book needed to be written in the first place. Am going to remove every confusion in the statement – pride is unbelief – with this post and that story. Please follow through with me. Continue reading “Pride is Unbelief!”
Picture this: you standing akimbo looking up to the sky and with exasperation you say to the Lord, let’s just get this over with already! Yeah, what a picture but it is one I have come close to a lot of times when I was just about to run out of patience with God. Wouldn’t it be great if He did what we wanted when we wanted every time? Sometimes, I just shudder at the thought of Abraham having to wait a whole twenty and five(25) years, I mean I even ask myself if I could wait that long for a promise from God. Well, I usually just hope and pray that He gives me such grace if that be my portion like Abraham’s was. Continue reading “Running Patiently”
Hello there! I hope your resumption to work from the Easter holiday has been smooth and you are having a great time at work. If you are not then something is wrong! Don’t say I didn’t tell you..!
All the same, this week I will be continuing on the mini-series that started last week on Parenthood. There is a scripture I encountered just yesterday during a ladies program in church, Titus 2:4. It talks about the young women learning from and being taught by the elderly women “how to love their husbands and children”. This scripture just jumped into my face, LOL and reinforced my search for knowledge on this. It taught me that if am willing and interested I could learn how women are to love their husbands and how I can love my own husband specifically and how children ought to be loved and how I can love my children specifically.
