What does pride have to do with unbelief? That’s the purpose of this post.
That statement is basically the summary of the book “Pride”. The book is in two (2) parts – Diagnosis and Recovery. The first part gives the diagnosis of the true nature of pride which is one being established in unbelief as against the symptoms (arrogance or showing of self-importance, wickedness, lack of respect for people generally etc.) which we encounter in proud people. Diagnosis covers chapters 1 to 11 – A general overview of pride, Why pride is a sin, Why God resists the proud, Pride and unbelief, The works of pride or you may say the possible behaviours in a proud person, the issue of Self, Who has it worse with pride and then introduces the basic requirements for recovery like Understanding God, Trusting God, Tells my own story with pride and it then ends with The man after God’s heart – David.
Recovery is basically building back faith and maintaining faith in the long run. It takes from chapters 12 to 18 – Faith, Accepting the love of God, Truth, God is Merciful, Fear of the Lord, Praise the Lord and finally Be a praying Christian.
What has pride got to do with unbelief – lack of faith?
That’s what am about to answer in very few lines and with a story of something that happened recently that reminded me of why the book needed to be written in the first place. Am going to remove every confusion in the statement – pride is unbelief – with this post and that story. Please follow through with me. Continue reading “Pride is Unbelief!”
