Hey….! How are you doing? Yeah, you? I really wish I could be sure that these posts have been a blessing to you. But am trusting God that you have picked one or two things from here.
By the way, am doing just well, great if I may say. Thanks for asking! *smiles*
To the matter of the day.
Have you ever encountered a situation where you had to make a decision on an issue that was pretty heavy and crucial to your life and you just didn’t know which way to go? As an adult I bet that has happened more than once and more importantly, it will happen again as long as you live.
Such times are usually fraught with a number of choices or voices all dragging us in different directions till we feel like holding our heads in our hands…..Or maybe not that far but all the same, we get the pressure these different choices present. How do we choose well especially when they all seem right, when the path of right and wrong is not so clear?
As a Christian, we have the Holy Spirit who leads us and directs our paths especially when we commit ourselves to listen and to obey when He tells us which way to go. We see this in Paul’s life in Acts 16:6-7. “Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia. After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not”. Obviously, preaching the gospel is not wrong but by the will of God, they were not to go to Asia yet. Then through a vision, Paul and his team received liberty from the Holy Spirit to go to Macedonia instead.
The Holy Spirit’s leading is a privilege every Christian should enjoy and greatly take advantage of because it reduces mistakes and cuts losses in our lives. It requires consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit in prayers and in studying the bible. He is the Author of the Scriptures – 2 Timothy 3:16 – so in studying our bible we learn His voice because we make ourselves available to be tutored by Him. John 16:13-14 says “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you”. And in prayer fellowship with Him we build up ourselves – Jude 1:19. This is important because it helps us be in tune with Him and to pick up His signals and instructions as quickly as Paul did.
But there are times when the Spirit of God is speaking and it is as if His voice and direction is drowned by other voices actually the flesh which is strong in our heart. This struggle is basically because the Spirit and the flesh are against each other and constantly at war. I will go ahead and give you a simple litmus test to know who is speaking to you through the barrage of choices, options and voices – the Spirit of God or the flesh and you now the flesh is how the devil manipulates us.
Check The Works. You have to genuinely ask yourself what that particular choice or action would work out in you. Would it make you a better person walking and living by faith and according to the word of God or would it just destroy your faith in God and compromise your walk with Him. John 10:24-25, 36-28. “Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, how long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him”.
When next you are worried or confused if a choice is God’s will or not, if it is the Holy Spirit or not, even if it is difficult at that instant to believe it is of God like Jesus explained to the Jews, look at the works it will produce in you and believe the works for the works sake. Works such as love, joy, peace, hope, faith, kindness, longsuffering etc. of Galatians 5:22-23. Remember also that Jesus told us that we know false prophets and teachers by their fruits. Same thing applies here. What is of the Spirit will have on it the fruit of the Spirit and what is of the flesh will have on it the works of the flesh as in Galatians 5:19-21.
In conclusion, the wisdom that is of God is different from that which is of the devil. The devil will usually parade before you a multiple choice scenario from which ALL will lead to either an opportunity to steal from you, your destruction and worse, your death.
So, please choose well.
James 3:13-17; “Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy”.
I love you but you already know He loves you more! God bless!
